The 2007 Leadership Exchange Trip saw Governor Bill Ritter, Mayor Hickenlooper and 150 Denver leaders travel to Phoenix, Arizona. The city-to-city program brought top Denver leaders together to discuss current issues of regional importance with the influential business and civic innovators of our host city.
Phoenix was selected for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which were the similarities between Denver and Phoenix and the parallels that can be drawn. We explored political, economic, and cultural facets of the Valley of the Sun, and learned from our competitor about their efforts and achievements in developing their economy and the resulting period of phenomenal growth.
In addition to studying the innovations and advances of other communities, the Leadership Exchange convened metro area leaders for an intensive, provocative, and stimulating dialogue designed to strengthen the vision of our own region.
